This is the first instalment of GFAR Talks, an exciting new webinar series showcasing informed debates on challenging and provocative topics related to agrifood system transformation. - DR ISMAHANE ELOUAFI. Chief Scientist of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. With nearly two decades of experience in agricultural research and development in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, Dr Elouafi is known for promoting neglected crops, non-fresh water in agriculture, and women in science. Dr Elouafi has been a member of numerous boards and research institutes. Her contributions to science have been recognized with prestigious awards and accolades, including the Excellence in Science Award from the Global Thinkers Forum.
- DR NAMUKOLO COVIC (PHD). Director General’s Representative to Ethiopia for the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). She is a food systems expert with a multidisciplinary academic background that spans crop science and extension, animal and poultry science, and human nutrition that has made her uniquely positioned to address dynamics of food systems transformation from different fronts. Namukolo is recognized for her ability to link diverse stakeholders on interlinkages of research, policy and program processes.
